He undertook the Industrial course which consisted of English, Maths A, Maths B, Geometrical Drawing, Woodwork, Metal Work, Trade Drawing, Physics and Chemistry.Ian says ‘some of my best memories were teaching my fellow classmates how to converse in sign language’.
He was also heavily involved in athletics. Ian ran the 800 yard cross country as well as playing tennis in the summer and Australian Rules Football in the winter.Ian’s story is an inspiration, teaching young high-school students who might be Deaf or have a hearing loss that anything is possible.
